As online news outlets succumb to what until recently was considered to be a problem mainly concerning print news – a decrease in advertising interest leading to staff cuts – this weekend saw Arianna Huffington (founder of The Huffington Post whose parent company Verizon recently cut their staff by 800 and were soon followed by cuts at both Vice and Buzzfeed) appear on the CNBC website promoting the benefits of disconnecting with technology and refocusing on our health and wellbeing. Interestingly one of Ms Huffington’s main pieces of advice was to invest in wellbeing and fitness apps to help cope with the stress of an ever increasingly busy world caused by a near constant state of being ‘switched on’. Although there is a clear irony in one of the great beneficiaries of the online newsfeed boom extolling the virtues of technology to detach from technology, there is no denying that Arianna can spot a trend and run with it.
If you have a look around those news feeds online, you will see that the term ‘Wellness Boom’ has been around for a good decade and that it is no coincidence that the growth of the Health & Wellness industry has coincided with the decade following the global Financial Crisis. The industry served as a port of call as people attempt to find an alternative understanding of the human condition that might not necessarily be wholly reliant on commercial enterprise. This search for an inward perspective has inadvertently mushroomed and created a multi-billion pound industry.
As with all successful Industries dealing with a boost in interest, practitioners of not so professional standards loom on the side lines to make a quick profit from the increased interest, of what is quite often an uninformed general public. It is important to Catherine and the team at AcademyCP, both ethically and in terms of quality of teaching, that we offer nothing but the highest standard of courses and masterclasses. Courses that will allow the students who join us to study, the opportunity to become a genuine part of the industry and serve a general public in need of that inward perspective.
Both our organisation and our courses and masterclasses individually are accredited by the Industry recognised – Complementary Health Professionals (CHP). A body whose purpose it is to stringently test complementary health care providers to ensure that the education they provide will ultimately offer opportunities of employment within the industry for those students who train with us.
In the weeks to come we will look in more detail at the specific courses and masterclasses we have on offer, the history of the practices and the career opportunities that studying with AcademyCP can offer to students.
In the meantime – have a look around the Complementary Health Professionals website and discover for yourself the high standards by which we are governed:
