In the first of a more in-depth series of Event Previews, we look at the Facelift Facial Masterclass. We take a look at the face as a whole, taking the muscle formation into consideration and not just focusing on the area where the issue is.
We relax the muscles that are too tight; the ones that cause lines, wrinkles and general premature ageing and start to strengthen or tone the muscles that have lost tone or are too relaxed that also cause lines and wrinkles.
E.G. In the massage routine after good old effleurage we start with ….
The Frontalis Muscle
Origin …. galea aponeurotica (top of skull)
Insertion … Skin around eyebrows and nose
Action … Raises eyebrows Responsible for …. Horizontal lines and wrinkling forehead
Massage Movement
- Flats of all fingertips in hair just above hairline, very slow deep kneading.
- Fingertip zig zag to forehead start off slow, speed up and start to feel the frontalis soften
- Rub horizontal lines with one finger (flat of finger tip) supported with two fingers on other hand.
Aim
To relax the frontalis and with it the surrounding muscles, corrugator, orbicularis occuli and therefore soften horizontal lines on the forehead. We do this because, as with other lifting techniques whereby the muscles are stimulated electronically, lifting and toning the muscles at the scalp will start to lift the connected muscles, lower down the face. We also bear in mind principles that are used in face lift surgery and injections, a major challenge in all areas is the lower face, so even though we maintain we achieve good results, we are seeing better improvements around the forehead and eyes than the cheeks and jawline, but so do other more expensive techniques.
