Academy CP’s commitment to collaboration and creating exciting new projects to benefit the health and wellbeing of our communities – finds us up for one of the top awards in the Industry this Autumn.
We are very pleased to announce that we have been shortlisted for this year’s NHS in the North Excellence (Supplier Awards) – ‘Innovation Category’ – for our pioneering approach to Massage Therapy for staff across hospitals in Lancashire.
The Awards recognise the work of businesses, third sector bodies and the NHS in working together to provide great patient care. As part of our wider programme to raise awareness of investing in practices that will bring long-term health benefits to a wider community – we have been providing a massage therapy service to NHS Staff (across all job roles).
The Massage Therapy service we provide is making a vital contribution to the Trusts Wellbeing Programme, helping to reduce staff absence and improve patient care. According to a ‘Work and Wellbeing’ report from the NHS in 2015 (Why Staff Health Matters to Patient Care) – Musculoskeletal Disorders are a major cause of staff absences. By providing regular ten minute chair massages, to all staff employed by the NHS across the region (one hospital shift at a time – to begin with) we are delving to the root of these health problems whilst also delivering a prevention-based approach.
The official word from the NHS Employers website is that ‘It is more important than ever that NHS workplaces become environments that encourage and enable staff to lead healthy lives and make choices that support positive wellbeing’:
