What is it?
A professional massage treatment. It includes:
• Professional massage techniques including the use of various massage media and how to take the case; postural assessment; reflective practice and case studies

• Related anatomy, physiology and pathology

• Benefits of Massage both physically and psychologically

• History of Massage

• Theory of Massage Practice; Contraindications and Cautions, benefits of touch, massage strokes, adaptation, aftercare advice, referrals and working with other healthcare professionals

• Health & Safety; Legislation; Client care; Hygiene principles

• Business, Professional and Ethical Studies

• First Aid

• Principles of Good Practice

In addition to the class contact hours you will be required to study a further 370 hours independently.

Pre-entry qualifications required
5 GCSE’s grade C or above.
Due to the nature of the industry and the course, students are expected to be polite, pleasant and enthusiastic. You will have to deal with the public on a daily basis

1. Minimum age of 18 years at the commencement of training, but a pathway for students between the ages of 16-18 years to certificate level (assistant level) will be provided General Council for Massage Therapists
If English is not your first language an English language level of International English language testing system 6.5 in all components or equivalent will be required.
